Hey I’m Ben

I live in Agassiz BC and am writing a blog about losing weight.

I’m 33 and tired of being overweight. I have gained and lost weight before and now I’m dieting again. I have recently seen a dietitian where the goal is low portion sizes with half your plate vegies and the other side a palm size of carbs and a fist size of protein and it didn’t work. I also tried taking 1mg of Ozempic every week and it didn’t work. The only diet I know works for anyone no matter how bad your metabolic disfunction for weight gain is – is the keto diet. Under 50 grams of carbs per day. Ketosis and glycogenesis is the goal. With keto your appetite and over all calories goes down but you feel full because carbs make you hungry. It’s possible to have less than 100g of carbs per day or have one cheat meal once per week to build more muscle. But I’m cutting heavy so below 50g is good for me.

Costco is the place to go

I go to the Costco in Abbotsford and stalk up on tenderloin steak strips (each making about 20 steaks) organic chicken wings, drum sticks and chicken breasts. And organic ground beef. Not to much Seafood but I love all meat. Cheese and salami or peperoni is a good snack and there are tones of combinations with sauces and vegetable’s that can be made. One of my favorites is a keto Pizza with a Cauliflower floret crust.

The main thing hurting my weight loss goals has been alcohol

I used to binge drink beer. And although hard liquor is supposed to be keto friendly, liquor hurts weight loss big time. Now every day I write down my new weight and a mark counting the days I haven’t drank alcohol.

I’m writing this blog as a scrapbook to help motivate me to loose 50lbs
